Stonework and Tile Website
Challenge: Client runs a stonework and tile business; primarily works for high-end clients in New York. They desired a clean, mobile responsive interface that could visually highlight the specific types of stone they work with to better attract new clientele like architects and homeowners looking to renovate.
Scope: Mockups were provided to the client before starting. Squarespace was used to build the site and chosen for its user-friendly features so they could make minor updates to it for themselves in the future if needed. Some color and font elements were manually added into the code-injection area using HTML, CSS, and Javascript. jQuery was employed to create element animations on the homepage. I also assisted the client with copyrighting since they were unsure of what kind of text-based content to include in certain areas of the website.
Results: The client was extremely satisfied with the look and feel of the website. Client expressed appreciation for additional help with content ideas and writing.
“It was a pleasure to work with Rich on building a website for my company. He is talented, resourceful, super personable and easy to work with. He is very good at creative problem solving and he listened closely to what I wanted and executed it just how I imagined it. He also went above and beyond by providing me with copy ideas for my website. I am very happy with the finished product!”
Costume Designer Website Redesign
Challenge: Client is a Los Angeles based costume designer. Had worked on various films, and Netflix shows and was looking to better showcase her work. The client desired something more clean looking. They also desired some additional features including a reformatting of the portfolio navigation, a blog, and a biography section.
Scope: The site was redesigned on Squarespace and made to be mobile responsive. A dark theme was chosen to highlight the cinematic nature and detail of her talents. Mockups were provided that went through a second round of iteration. Adobe Photoshop was used to make a collage slideshow for the biography section.
Results: Provided the client with a more professional, bold website, which was a departure from its original kitschy aesthetic. Highlighted and enlarged compelling photographs with recognizable actors and settings. Created a more easily navigable and pleasant user experience.
"Rich has a very developed sense of design, I love his eye. He was reasonable in his rate and his work ethic was awesome. I lagged a bit on providing some materials because of my work schedule but he was very laid back about that which I appreciate. He delivered exactly what I wanted and was honest about what could and couldn't be done. He did a great job and I will come back to hire him for sure!"
Enhancing Engagement for a Wordpress Client
Client desired a better sales funnel for a seminar they were hosting and needed some design fixes to their Wordpress site. CSS was employed to customize several sales funnel buttons throughout the site.
"Richard did an excellent job creating a clickable button on 3 of my web pages to capture prospective client's emails. He did the job perfectly and the turn around time was very quick. He did an awesome job I would highly recommend his services."
Web Tutoring Services for a Small Business
This client is a small business specializing in handcrafted ice cream in the Portland area. They needed assistance with their online presence. Using my teaching background, I tutored them over several sessions on how to update their website, in order to post about current work and flavors, as well as how to use Instagram and Facebook.
“In just two hours Rich was able to teach me how to build and tweak a functional website for my company, in spite of my lack of experience and IT anxiety. I hired them several times again to learn how use Facebook, Instagram, and to improve my website.
I have come to look to Sprouted Rock as a valuable resource for the growth of my startup. Rich is competent, articulate, patient, and fun to work with. I feel fortunate to empower myself with the skills that he taught me and to count on him for the technology needs of my company”
Marketing Website for a Software Client
Client needed a website to promote and register new users for software they were creating. The software is used to make museums more interactive to visitors. The website was developed locally on Wordpress and deployed online. Several pages were included to inform new users about pricing and get them signed up for the product launch.
